The Snowman Trek in Bhutan is one of the most beautiful and challenging treks in the entire Himalayas. Renowned as the most difficult trek in the world due to its high altitude, long duration, and extensive distance, far fewer people complete this alpine quest than climb Mount Everest in Nepal. The trek winds through the remote Lunana district, along Bhutan's northern border with Tibet, crossing thirteen Himalayan mountain passes, some reaching as high as 5,000 meters.
Despite its challenges, including long distances, high altitude, difficult weather conditions, and remoteness, the Snowman Trek rewards adventurers with spectacular views of majestic peaks such as Mt. Jumolhari, Jichu Drake, Masangang, Tiger Mountain, Gangkar Puensum, and other prominent mountains along the northern border. The recommended season for this trek is from mid-June to mid-October, as it is frequently closed due to snow and is nearly impossible during winter.
This trek is only for the experienced and is offered exclusively to groups of five or more people. Those who undertake the Snowman Trek are promised unforgettable landscapes and some of the most magnificent views in the Himalayas, making the rigorous journey well worth the effort.
