Paro Tshechu, or the Paro Festival, is one of Bhutan’s grandest and most vibrant celebrations, spanning five days. Held in spring, when peach blossoms are in full bloom, the festival offers a mesmerizing display of color and culture. The striking contrast of rainbow-hued masked dancers against the pristine white monastery, beautifully adorned singers, and the pleasant weather make it an unforgettable experience. It also provides a wonderful opportunity to engage with the locals and immerse yourself in Bhutanese traditions.
On the first day, all mask dances take place within the courtyard of the Dzong. In the following days, the festival moves to the courtyard outside the Dzong, culminating in the unfurling of a magnificent thongdrel (a large sacred tapestry) on the final day.
In addition to experiencing the Paro Festival, this 7-Day Bhutan tour includes visits to other must-see destinations, such as Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro, offering a deeper insight into the kingdom’s rich heritage and breathtaking landscapes.
